Years after the release of Jay Z classic Big Pimpin’ the nephew of Egyptian composer Baligh Hamdi has filed a lawsuit against Hov for the unauthorized sample of his uncle’s song Khosara, Khosara that appears on the track. Hamdi’s nephew Osama Ahmed Fahmy is attempting to collect revenue from album and concert ticket sales. A judge has ruled that the statue of limitations has expired but Fahmy is arguing that because of his lack of proficiency in English, he was misled by EMI lawyers. Part of the ruling states that concert revenue may still be retrievable if it’s determined that Big Pimpin’ is responsible for concert ticket sales. To be continued…
